Before opening his own real estate brokerage in 1977, Braunstein was a psychologist with the US Navy. He has a Master's degree in psychology from George Washington University. Braunstein lives in Scripps Ranch with his wife Rochelle and their dog Buddy. Braunstein serves his community as a District Representative for the Scripps Ranch Civic Association.
