Selecting a Real Estate Agent

 

Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest decisions we make in our lives.  Within the decision to buy or sell there are many other decisions that must be made if the process is to be successful.  The role your agent plays in providing you information, explanations, alternatives, and good counseling is a critical one.  You need to be confident that the agent representing you will take the time, has the background, and can tap the resources necessary to provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions.  Not all agents have the resources and backing to get help if they don't have all the answers.  So when you select an agent make sure the company they are associated with has all of the resources to represent you well.

The true value of an agent is not a fancy internet site, although that is an asset we all must have.  Nor  is the true value based on rebates, incentives, discounts or any number of other meaningless promotions. 

The true value of an agent is the agent's willingness to invest the time and effort to completely understand the client's objectives.  The professional agent should offer education, information, counseling, and representation to assure that the client has the ability to make  informed decisions.  Finally, the professional agent must facilitate the transaction through the maze of details to reach a successful conclusion.

Scripps Ranch Neighborhood Watch

SCRIPPS RANCH NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

 

Scripps Ranch has always prided itself on being a safe and friendly community where crime rates are low and neighbors watch out for each other.  In keeping with that spirit, the Scripps Ranch Civic Association is revitalizing the Neighborhood Watch program so that it has comprehensive community-wide coverage.

Neighborhood Watch in San Diego is a crime prevention program that enlists the active participation of citizens in cooperation with local law enforcement to reduce crime.The current American system of neighborhood watches began in the late 1960s and is sponsored by local law enforcement agencies.  Residents are organized into small block or neighborhood groups.  Neighbors work with each other to protect each other and prevent crime by recognizing and reporting suspicious activities to the San Diego Police Department. This has been a highly effective program  because you and your neighbors are the people who really know what is going on in your local community. Neighbors are likely to be the first to see a crime and call for help. The program can also be helpful in case of a local emergency such as the Cedar Fires.

Volunteer block Captains hold a meeting to organize their neighbors and a list of local particpants is made and shared among the   group.  Neighborhood Watch Signs can be hung alerting miscreants that "eyes are upon them"   Rochelle Braunstein (a member of the Claude Braunstein & Associates team) is one of the area coordinators and promises that the work of the Block Captain is not arduous not time consuming.  It is a great way to get to know your neighbors .
